Uprima

Uprima is no longer available

Unfortunately 'Abbott' the pharmaceutical company producing Uprima has pulled the treatment and is no longer producing it. This has been very unfortunate as Uprima unlike the other treatments was unique as it could be used in combination with nitrates. PrimaMed will be stocking this treatment if it does return on the market.

How does Uprima work?
Unlike other oral treatments for erectile dysfunction, Uprima stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain. These receptors in turn transmit excitatory signals down the spinal cord to the sacral parasympathetic nucleus, stimulating activity of the sacral nerves supplying the penis. As the penile smooth muscle relaxes, the pelvic arteries dilate. The dilated arteries then fill with blood and the penis becomes erect.

How do I take Uprima®?
It is recommended that you take the Uprima sublingual tablet 20 minutes prior to sexual activity. It is best to drink a small glass of water before taking the tablet to help the dissolving process. After drinking the water, place the tablet under the tongue. Do not chew , just let the tablet dissolve.

What is the difference between Uprima and Viagra?
Pfizer's Viagra, a pill that is swallowed, works by improving blood flow to the penis. Uprima tablets, manufactured by Tap Pharmaceuticals, are absorbed under the tongue, stimulating the brain chemical dopamine, which starts a signal for an erection.

One of the main benefits of Uprima is the speed at which it works. Once dissolved under the tongue, clinical tests have shown that 34% of erections occur within 10 minutes and 71% of erections occur within 20 minutes.
