New GMC* and RPSGB** regulatory guidelines for online prescribing mean that it is no longer possible for www.prima-med.com to provide Reductil through an online consultation service. The GMC has recommended to doctors that Reductil should only be prescribed through a face to face consultation so that the necessary blood pressure checks can be made to guarantee that the medication is prescribed safely.

All UK-registered Pharmacies are also recommended not to fullfill orders for Reductil where the consultation was carried out online.

What is Reductil?

Reductil (sibutramine; known as Meridia in the USA) is a prescription weight loss medicine designed to combat obesity and keep weight in the healthy range. It works as an appetite suppressant and should be taken in conjunction with a change to a healthier diet and more exercise.

Reductil is only suitable for people with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, and those with a BMI of 27 or higher who also have other obesity related risk factors, such as diabetes.

How does it work?

Reductil simply reduces appetite by inhibiting chemicals (noradrenaline and serotonin) in the brain. This process enhances feelings of fullness and so makes it easier to control your appetite.

What do the studies say?

There have been 3 studies done on Reductil. These were done over a period of 12 months and involved 1,628 patients with obesity. The results show that 77% of Reductil patients achieved weight loss that benefited their health. This was achieved in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and appropriate physical activity.

How do I take Reductil

Reductil tablets comes in two strengths, 10mg or 15mg. It is advisable to start on the lower dose.

For best results and to avoid missing any doses, take Reductil every morning at least one hour before your first meal. If you forget a dose do not take two doses at the same time to make up.
